Eupe Corporation Berhad (Eupe) has won the “Company of the Year Award for Social Engagement” under the property development and construction category at the prestigious Sustainability and CSR Malaysia Awards 2023 held recently.
Eupe was conferred as one of the recipients of the prestigious award by a panel of judges representing leadership in the corporate and community sectors. The award recognises Eupe’s continuous implementation of strong corporate responsibility initiatives that have sustainable impact on the lives of children and local communities, as well as engaging in a range of other sustainability efforts.
Specifically, the award recognises Eupe’s ‘Building Hope’ activities which are part of the company’s Sustainability Plus program. Building Hope aims to build stronger communities by extending assistance to those in need, as well as worthy organisations that support the community and the environment. Eupe raised RM100,000 at its Building Hope Charity Bazaar in 2022 which benefited 17 charity and environmental organisations across Malaysia.
Groups supported by proceeds raised at the Bazaar included the Autism Café Project, Dignity for Children, Food Bank Malaysia, Generating Opportunities for Learning Disabled (GOLD), Helping Hands Penan, The Lost Food Project, WWF Malaysia and many more.
To date, the Building Hope initiative has undertaken 16 corporate social responsibility (CSR) events
Eupe’s Managing Director, Dato Beh Huck Lee, said the company is committed to playing its part in building a better future for those in need. “A key part of our company values has always been to give back to the community that have helped us grow as a company.
“It is an honour to be recognised by this award for our efforts in corporate social responsibility and this recognition is a testimony to our ongoing commitment to helping those individuals and communities in need.
The Building Hope logo was created and drawn by Eupe’s Corporate Head of Design and Marketing, Datin Michelle Gan. Gan explained the inspiration for the logo came to her from the simple idea that even the smallest gesture of support can build hope and a better world for others who are less fortunate. “The image has people of different races, cultures and ages, - coming together, hands held. That’s the idea we would like to advocate to show how important it is to build and spread hope for others across colour, culture or creed. It is to remind ourselves that each of us can make a difference”, she said.
The Sustainability and CSR Malaysia Awards was established by CSR Malaysia to recognise the unwavering commitment of corporations in Malaysia who excelled in socio-economic transformation. The award was honoured by Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri.
